St James Park
Home of the Newcastle United Football Club is St. James Park. This has been their home since 1891 when the East and West End teams merged together. The original stadium had a seating capacity of 30,000. It soon wasn’t enough to hold all the fans so the stadium underwent an expansion to 60,000 seats.
As the sport emerged as being one of the most popular in the country, the Park is the third highest sporting facility with a seating capacity of 52,387. In April 2007, the Newcastle United submitted plans for a larger development with a seating capacity to hit at least 60,000.
