Sevilla Futbol Club, simply known as Sevilla, are the oldest football club from the Spanish city of Seville. Founded in 1905, the club is also the second oldest one from Andalusia, which is the second largest region in the Kingdom of Spain. Among the most notable successes during the club’s early years one could mention their Copa de Sevilla win from 1914 and the Copa del Rey trophy from 1935. Sevilla won their first and only La Liga title in 1946.
Although the club’s number trophies might not seem too impressive compared to other clubs, Sevilla have beaten Real Madrid more time than any other team. After pending between decline and revival periods during the last decades, have recently come back among the tough football teams of the moment. They won the UEFA Cup in 2006 and thus qualified for the UEFA Super Cup. They beat FC Barcelona in August 2006 and won this competition as well.
During the next season, Sevilla won the UEFA Cup again, becoming the second club to successfully defending the title. The first one was Real Madrid, who gained the UEFA Cup in 1985 and in 1986.
In 2007, Sevilla won also both Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
