Artemio Franchi Stadium (Firenze)
Stadio Artemio Franchi is the home ground of ACF Fiorentina. The stadium was built in 1931, 5 years after the Italian football club was born from a merger.
Stadio Artemio Franchi’s structure is the work of Pier Luigi Nervi, an architect that is known also for realizing the plan for the Paul VI Audience Hall in the Vatican City, called sometimes the Nervi Hall.
The stadium is made of reinforced concrete and has a 70-meter tower called the Tower of Marathon. At the moment, it holds 47,282 seats, although the official record attendance was 58,271. This record was established in 1984, at a match between Fiorentina and Inter.

Formerly known as the Stadio Comunale, the stadium was renamed in 1991 after Artemio Franchi, the former Italian Football Federation president. This happened after the stadium underwent renovations for the FIFA World Cup 1990.
